As part of the June WANALA meeting in Alice Springs, a Forumwas held to discuss a proposal for a national First Nations languages coalition. The Forum was facilitated by Professor Jakelin Troy, from the University of Sydney, and was attended by about 40 people representing nearly 30 organisations.
How can we care for our languages and sustain our activities with scarce funding and resources? How can we best learn from each other and share knowledge across Australia?
Is it time for all centres involved in maintenance and revival of Indigenous languages to come together in a coalition?
What form of coalition would most benefit the work of regional and local language organisations?
How would a coalition advance our national partnerships, including with the Commonwealth Government?
The meeting outcomes will be shared on this page.
